Vision for Graphics

چکیده
Creating compelling-looking content using conventional graphics techniques is often laborious and requires significant artistry and experience. Two related issues that we’ve been investigating are how this content-creation process can be simplified without sacrificing quality, and how rendering can be made photorealistic or compelling. In this paper, we describe how images and videos can be processed using computer vision techniques to produce a variety of outputs, such as higher dynamic range video, realisticlooking interpolated views of dynamic scenes, 3D models of plants and trees, and rain. We also describe how flash/noflash image pairs can be easily used to produce mattes of foreground objects and how photos of paintings can be analyzed to facilitate animation.

46 Computer The Convergence of Graphics and Vision A t Microsoft Research, the computer vision and graphics groups used to be on opposite sides of the building. Now we have offices along the same hallway, and we see each other every day. This reflects the larger trend in our field as graphics and vision close in on similar problems. Computer graphics and computer vision are inverse problems. Tr...
متن کاملComputer vision framework for adding CG Simulations
Rendering synthetic simulations into real world scenes is an important application of both Computer Graphics (CG) and Computer Vision (CV). CV techniques have been used to reconstruct the 3D models of the real world scenes. As part of my course project, I’ve implemented computer vision modules for calibrating camera, computing stereo, computing depth-maps, computing 3D models and a graphics int...
متن کاملComputer Vision on the GPU
Computer vision tasks are computationally intensive and repetitive, and they often exceed the real-time capabilities of the CPU, leaving little time for higher-level tasks. However, many computer vision operations map efficiently onto the modern GPU, whose programmability allows a wide variety of computer vision algorithms to be implemented. This chapter presents methods of efficiently mapping ...

متن کاملMediated Reality Using Computer Graphics Hardware for Computer Vision
Wearable, camera based, head–tracking systems use spatial image registration algorithms to align images taken as the wearer gazes around their environment. This allows for computer–generated information to appear to the user as though it was anchored in the real world. Often, these algorithms require creation of a multiscale Gaussian pyramid or repetitive re–projection of the images. Such opera...
